Palembang City in February 2016 experienced a deflation of -0.11 percent while Lubuk Linggau City experienced a deflation of -0.43 percent

Abstract

* The city of Palembang in February 2016 experienced a deflation of (-0.11 percent). The cumulative inflation rate in 2016 was 0.21 percent. While the "year on year" deflation rate (February 2016 to February 2015) was 4.98 percent.

Palembang City Inflation in February 2016 based on expenditure groups, showed that 3 (three) groups experienced a decrease in price index, namely the foodstuffs group by -1.01 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel group of -0.55 percent; education, recreation and sports group by -0.35 percent. Whereas 4 (four) expenditure groups experienced an increase in price index, namely the processed food, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group by 1.53 percent; health group of 0.86 percent; clothing group by 0,12 percent; transportation, communication & financial services group of 0.02 percent.

* Commodities experiencing price declines with the highest deflation share in Palembang include: pedigree meat, electricity tariffs, shallots, vegetable tomatoes, and television. While commodities that experienced an increase in prices included: filter clove cigarettes, clove cigarettes, beans, rice and wet shrimp.

* Lubuk Linggau City in February 2016 experienced a deflation of (-0.43 percent). The cumulative inflation rate in 2016 to February was 0.06 percent and the year on year deflation rate (February 2016 against February 2015) was 5.88 percent.

* Commodities that experienced a price decline that caused deflation in Lubuk Linggau City in February 2016 included: broiler chicken, shallots, vegetable tomatoes, electricity tariffs and red chillies. While commodities that experienced the highest price increases included filter clove cigarettes, wood beams, clove cigarettes, tempeh, and cucumbers.
