Abstract

1. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in April 2016 amounted to 94.55 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in April 2016 still decreased compared to the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, NTP April 2016 experienced an increase which rose by 0.07 percent due to the higher price index received by farmers compared to the price index paid by farmers.

2. South Sumatra Agricultural Business Exchange (NTUP) in April 2016 amounted to 101.77 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in April 2016 was better than the base year of 2012. When compared to the previous month, NTUP April 2016 also rose by 0.02 percent.

3. NTP without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in April 2016 amounted to 94.37 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in April 2016 also declined compared to the 2012 base year. However, compared to the previous month, FTT without fisheries in April 2016 up by 0.04 percent.

4. NTUP without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in April 2016 amounted to 101.51 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in April 2016 was better than the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, NTUP April 2016 decreased by 0 , 05 percent.

5. Based on the NTP and NTUP sub-sector, in April 2016 the sector experienced an increase compared to March 2016, namely the horticulture sector, smallholder plantations, livestock, fisheries, capture fisheries and aquaculture. While the sector that experienced a decrease was the food crop sector.
Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farmer households. In April 2016 rural areas in South Sumatra experienced deflation of 0.28 percent. Expenditure groups that experienced deflation were transportation and communication groups and foodstuffs, while other expenditure groups experienced inflation
