Abstract

The export value of South Sumatra in August 2016 increased by 24.42 percent compared to July 2016. However, when compared with the same period in 2015 (January - August 2015) exports of South Sumatra Province decreased by 32.29 percent.
    The export value of South Sumatra Province in August 2016 amounted to US $ 155.75 million consisting of oil and gas exports of US $ 6.31 million and US $ 149.43 million from exports of non-oil and gas commodities.

    Malaysia, Japan and the United States are still the main destination countries for South Sumatra exports in the period January - August 2016, reaching US $ 153.50 million, US $ 127.08 million and US $ 211.76 million respectively, with the role of the three reaching 40.95 percent of total exports from January to August 2016.

    Exports to the European Union in January - August 2016 reached US $ 176.42 million (14.67 percent of total exports) and exports to ASEAN reached US $ 239.34 million (19.91 percent of total exports).

    According to the Sector, compared to the period January - August 2015, industrial product exports in January - August 2016 decreased by 25.04 percent, exports of agricultural products decreased by 8.34 percent and mining products decreased by 36.70 percent.
