Abstract

The number of workforce in South Sumatra Province in August 2016 was 4.2 million people, an increase of 244.0 thousand people or an increase of 6.20 percent compared to August 2015.

    The number of people working in South Sumatra Province in August 2016 reached 4.0 million people, an increase of 302.8 thousand people, up by 8.19 percent compared to the situation in August 2015.

    The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in South Sumatra Province in August 2016 reached 4.31 percent, a decrease compared to August 2015 of 6.07 percent or a decrease of 1.76 percent. Whereas the number of unemployed people in August 2016 was 180.2 thousand people or decreased by 58.8 thousand people from August 2015 amounting to 238.9 thousand people.

    During the period of August 2015 - August 2016 there were 3 (three) business sectors experiencing a decline in the absorption of working population, namely: Agriculture, Plantation, Forestry, Hunting and Fisheries, Construction sector, and Financial Institution, Real Estate, Rental Business and Corporate Services sector. The decrease in absorption of the highest working population was in the Agriculture, Plantation, Forestry, Hunting and Fisheries sectors by 6.30 percent. Meanwhile, 6 (six) other sectors experienced an increase in absorption of working population where the highest increase in absorption was in the Social Services, Social Services sector. and Individuals of 4.24 percent.
