Abstract

  • Human development in South Sumatra Province continues to progress. In 2018, the South Sumatra Province Human Development Index (HDI) reached 69.39. This figure increased by 0.53 points or grew by 0.77 percent compared to 2017.

  • Babies born in 2018 have hopes of living up to 69.41 years, 0.23 years longer than those born the previous year. Children who are 7 years old in 2018 have hopes of enjoying 12.36 years of education (Diploma I), 0.01 years longer than those of the same age in 2017. Meanwhile, residents aged 25 years and over on average, they have been educated for 8,00 years (class VIII), longer than 0.01 years compared to the previous year. In 2018, the people of South Sumatra make ends meet with an average per capita expenditure of 10.652 million rupiah per year, increasing by 432 thousand rupiah compared to the previous year's expenditure.
