Abstract

The economy of South Sumatra Province, measured by the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) on the basis of current prices, in the first semester of 2016 reached Rp. 172.83 trillion and on the basis of constant prices in 2010 reached Rp. 130.87 trillion.

ü The economy of the Province of South Sumatra in the first semester of 2016 compared to the first semester of 2015 grew 5.05 percent (c-to-c) compared to the same period in 2015 of 4.65 percent. In terms of production, the highest growth was achieved by Provision of Accommodation and Drinking Meals by 11.98 percent.

ü The economy of South Sumatra Province in the second quarter of 2016 compared to the second quarter of 2015 grew 5.13 percent (y-on-y), up from the same period in 2015 of 4.71 percent. In terms of production, the highest growth was achieved by the procurement of electricity and gas by 24.98 percent. In terms of expenditures by the Government Consumption Expenditure Component which grew by 13.13 percent.
The economy of South Sumatra Province in the second quarter of 2016 compared to the previous quarter rose to 3.73 percent (q-to-q). In terms of production, this growth was caused by Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries which grew 7.95 percent. While in terms of expenditure, it was caused more by the Government Consumption Expenditure component which grew 30.34 percent.
