Abstract

1. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in February 2016 was 94.99 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in February 2016 still declined compared to the base year of 2012. When compared to the previous month, the February 2016 NTP also decreased by 0.39 percent due to the price index received by farmers is lower than the price index paid by farmers.

2. The Agricultural Business Exchange (NTUP) of South Sumatra in February 2016 was 101.79 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in February 2016 was better than the base year of 2012. But when compared to the previous month, NTUP in February 2016 fell by 0.63 percent.

3. FTT Without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in February 2016 was 94.81 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in February 2016 also declined compared to the base year of 2012. Similarly, when compared to the previous month, FTT without fishing in February 2016 also decreased by 0.43 percent.

4. NTUP Without the Fisheries Sector of South Sumatra in February 2016 amounted to 101.56 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in February 2016 was better than the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, NTUP February 2016 experienced a decrease of 0 68 percent.

5. Based on the NTP and NTUP sub-sectors, in February 2016 the sectors that experienced an increase compared to January 2016 were the horticulture sector, the fisheries sector, the capture fisheries sector and aquaculture fisheries. While the sectors that experienced a decline were the smallholder plantation sector and the livestock sector. Whereas the NTP food crop sector experienced an increase and NTUP experienced a decline.

Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In February 2016 rural areas in South Sumatra experienced a deflation of 0.10 percent. The expenditure groups that experienced deflation were foodstuffs and transportation and communication, while the other expenditure groups experienced inflation
